Video training for current customers:

What is middleware?

In its most general sense, middleware is computer software that provides services to software applications beyond those already available. Middleware makes it easier for users to perform various tasks. We have worked very hard over the years to perfect our platform, so it can seamlessly allow your users to work straight from a mobile phone, tablet or internet browser. No software to download for your end-users!

How much does it cost?

Our pricing is very aggressive. Our goal is to bring world-class features to all users at a price that is simply unbeatable. There are no startup costs. We will provide the software, installation, service and support. We have found this to be far cheaper than even every service agreement and without capital required. Our solutions are all-inclusive with no up-front costs to consider. The monthly cost includes the Teleradiology services, ChartPoint Dashboards and all of our PACS Middleware product line. Your new clients download their program free of charge and place it on any computer in their network. The cost to you is an additional $50 monthly fee per site, plus hourly considerations for HL7 interfaces. The fee is structured to ensure any new client can pay for itself as long as a single study is read each month. It is a truley seamless and affordable solution!

Can you work with my PACS?

Yes. Radiology Technology's software will sit on your network, communicate with your existing PACS environment(s) through standard DICOM protocols and communicate with the end-user through a very simple website. You simply visit the hosted webpage from our platform and can begin managing your new features immediately.

What does Radiology Technology's software do?

Within minutes you can have users (no licensed user count limit) sending studies, receiving studies, querying old PACS archives, sharing secure email links of individual studies with outside facilities, creating automated DICOM editing rules based on outbound destinations, seamless teleradiology services, drag and drop CD importing from any web browser, CD Importing through an installed Windows or MAC client, generate HL7 messages to contain measurements in DICOM tags or Structured Reports, DICOM transfer images from a mobile device as secondary DICOM captures, close the vendor proprietary gap by flushing out hidden measurements and placing them into the standard locations for all other vendors to see, and the list goes on. You can keep this locked down tightly or you can open user access as much as you need. All of the features and security are completely controlled through the web interface by administrators or our service staff. We can interface with complicated systems by altering DICOM tags and/or by generating HL7 messages on the incoming traffic. There are no limitations to the automation we can support!

Why do I need to add features to my existing PACS?

Everybody has some issues with their PACS vendor. Although, it likely does many things well, it almost certainly does some things poorly or not at all. If there is any feature at all that you are lacking, just give us a call and we can determine if our solution can fill the gap. One perfect example is an almost certain inability to send just one study or patient to an outside referring physician. For example, you could simply click on a patient's name or the individual study, create a new user and that specific referring physician would receive an email with a link to the shared study. He/she could then view or download the study over a 3-5 day period. After the determined time-out period, their username would no longer have access to your system. This example illustrates how we can provide better HIPAA security through strict access to your PACS database while decreasing costs and time demanded by your staff to share the same study via CD.

Isn't it better to just replace my current PACS?

Replacing your current PACS architecture is incredibly expensive and time-consuming. It might make sense to replace it, but not if you are only missing a few key features. Depending on which features you are trying to acquire, our solution can likely provide you with those features, plus more at a lower cost. In any case, our middleware can extend the functions of your current PACS, the newly acquired PACS or simply act as a bridge so they are interfaced together on your network. With our middleware platform, you don't need to worry about how you will view the studies off of the old system or migrate them to the new one. Our solution will interface multiple PACS together so your end-users don't realize they are separate environments. If you would prefer to migrate all of your old studies onto the new system, our DICOM Gateway can perform that task as well with as much automation as necessary to keep the transfer data organized and clean.

How easy is the software to use?

The software is easy to learn how to use. Once installed, you will wonder how you ever got along without it. It literally puts incredibly complex DICOM tasks and query functions in the hands of anybody comfortable with a Google Search. It will turn novice PACS Administrators into highly advanced employees, and make already experienced Administrators even more efficient. Similarly, your most insecure referring physician will function on it with ease, thereby reducing calls to your front desk and decreasing turn-around time on requests. The ChartPoint solution will help your Directors discover trends once thought too cumbersome and impossible with current resources.

How many computers can access my current PACS through your middleware?

There are no limits to the number of users on the system. We do not believe limiting the number of concurrent users benefits anybody; therefore, we have no limits established. Facilities large and small can equally benefit from our services.

Can I really eliminate CD Burning?

Absolutely! Our goal is to decrease the amount of time it takes your staff to perform menial tasks. One cumbersome task is burning, printing and delivering CDs. The end-users often don't know how to operate your custom PACS software burned on to the disks. It takes too much time and money to distribute that media as well. Our solution allows your staff to simply select the patient(s) to share. The intended recipient receives an email with credentials and another email with the link to the shared studies. They can login and view or download the studies immediately. Their access can be configured to remain active or to auto-cancel after a given number of days. You can view the web traffic through log files. This greatly increases your control over the content shared and provies HIPAA compliance through logged web traffic. You do not get those benefits with mailed CDs.

How easy is it to setup automated rules such as DICOM alterations and autorouting?

It is the easiest and most dynamic on the market! Within minutes, you can setup several automated rules based on any criteria imaginable. All it takes is access to a web browser. All rules and filters are created through a wizard which creates the SQL syntax for you. You don't need to know any programming or have many technical skills in order to setup even complicated rules with the help of the wizard.

How can your solution interface with my PACS and RIS environments?

We can interface with your environments through standard DICOM Query/Retrieve protocols and/or through HL7 messaging. All of the commands are initiated on a website, but translate to real server communications on the back-end. Our ability to interface with DICOM standards and/or HL7 standards allows us to work with almost everybody. If those standards are not supported by your current PACS, we have other custom solutions to consider; including, custom software development. However, we find that what we currently offer is almost always sufficient.
